CRIME STOPPERS: Assault Case in August, Stolen Vehicle Case in September Under Investigation

LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 25)–In our weekly Crime Stoppers report, Lincoln Police are investigating an assault case from mid-August and an auto theft from the past two weeks.

It was on August 10 around 8:30pm, where the victim said he was assaulted by two different men outside of the Fast Break gas station off of 16th and South. LPD forensics technician Becky Keller said the victim was resting on a bench, when a man in a red shirt came up to him and called him a filthy bum. Keller says the man hit the victim with a collapsible baton.

After the victim moved to go call police, Keller said a man in a darker-colored shirt punched him in the face.

Then on September 12, an 18-year-old man reported his truck, a silver 2001 Dodge Ram 2500, was stolen from the Cooper YMCA parking lot. It was purchased a week before from someone over in Council Bluffs, Iowa. Keller said the victim’s wallet was left in the truck and after the truck theft was reported, he said his credit card was being used in Council Bluffs.

Video surveillance from the Cooper YMCA shows another Dodge Ram with a dark green color arrive and the passenger gets into the victim’s truck and drive away.

Keller says a 2001 silver Dodge Ram 2500 that has yet to be located. There was one reported sighting of it near Highway 77 and West Denton Road but officers were unable to find it.
