LINCOLN–(KFOR June 28)–An 18-year-old Lincoln man is in jail, accused of being involved in a drive-by shooting that happened twice on Wednesday at a home north of 31st and “O” Street.

A warrant was served at a home in the 3400 block of Portia Street, according to Police Officer Angela Sands.  Deontrey Rush was inside and arrested for aiding and abetting and unlawful discharge of a firearm in the city.

Rush was developed as a suspect through witnesses and security video of the Dodge Avenger he apparently was in on Wednesday, when at least 20 shots were fired at the home near 31st and Kleckner Court.  Nine .22 caliber shell casings were found on the south side of the home during the first incident on Wednesday afternoon, while 11 more were found in the second incident late Wednesday night.

LPD was aware of the vehicle they were looking for and an officer made a traffic stop on a Dodge Avenger Thursday near Portia and Hartley streets, which northeast of 14th and Adams.  Inside the car were 29-year-old Lashae Ryles, who was driving, and 27-year-old Fredrica Murrell.

Officer Sands says the officer who made the stop could smell marijuana inside, which led to 89.3 grams of marijuana inside a grocery bag, a burnt marijuana roach, digital scale, a controlled pill, plus a knife with a seven-inch blade and a .22 caliber shell casing.

Ryles was cited possession of marijuana, paraphernalia and carrying a concealed weapon, while Murrell was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

Rush was not in the vehicle at the time of the traffic stop and Officer Sands says they believe the two women were not involved in the drive-by.

Sands adds more arrests in the drive-by, though, are still possible.
