LINCOLN–(KFOR NEWS  July 24, 2019) –Just before 4am Wednesday morning, Lincoln Police responded to reports of a gunshot in the 26th and South neighborhood.   Officers found a 34-year-old woman dead inside the house.

Late Wednesday afternoon, police released the victim’s name.  She’s been identified as Audrea  Craig.  The news release said Craig died of apparent gunshot wounds to the chest.

Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister says there were eight people inside the home at the time of the shooting, including six children ranging in age from 6 to 16.  The victim’s 30-year-old boyfriend was also inside the house.

Meanwhile, just minutes later at Bryan West Campus (16th and South) a man showed up to the hospital with unknown injuries, after being dropped off by some unknown people.  Emergency room personnel tried to save the man’s life, but he died as he was receiving treatment.

Lincoln Police Captain Jake Dilsaver says they are still investigating both incidents, including, because of their proximity, whether the two deaths are connected.
