CRIME STOPPERS: Shoplift and Hit and Run Cases Being Investigated by LPD
LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 20)–Lincoln Police are asking for your help in a couple of recent cases, involving a shoplift and a hit and run, in this week’s Crime Stoppers report.
LPD forensics technician Becky Keller on Wednesday said last Wednesday night, around 8:30pm, a man walked into the Super Saver near 56th and Nebraska Parkway and concealed a bottle of Smirnoff vodka down his pants. The bottle broke and alcohol spilled inside his pants and onto the floor.
Keller says the suspect then concealed another bottle of Smirnoff in his pants, then slipped an fell on the mess he first made. The man then left the store and got into a red SUV.
In the hit and run case from Oct. 30 around 8:45am on the northeast corner of 33rd and Holdrege, by UNL’s East Campus, where a witness reported he was stopped and a vehicle behind him swerved and slammed into a light pole, knocking it over.
Keller said the witness pulled over to help the other driver, who then sped off from the scene. The witness described the driver as a Hispanic male, driving a white work truck with a ladder rack over the bed, with a dark-colored tailgate and significant damage to the front end.
