LINCOLN–(KFOR June 21)–A Lincoln Police officer was treated and released from a Lincoln hospital early Friday morning, after suffering minor injuries when he was rear-ended in his cruiser during a traffic stop near 33rd and Highway 2.

Captain Ben Kopsa told KFOR News the driver of the vehicle that was heading westbound at the time and hit the cruiser was later identified as 37-year-old Cory Reimnitz of Lincoln.

Police Officer Luke Bonkiewicz later on Friday said other officer showed up and said Reimnitz showed impairment and could smell alcohol on his breath.  A preliminary breath test showed Reimnitz’ blood-alcohol content was .222, almost three times over the legal limit.

Bonkiewicz says Reimnitz was taken to a detox center and was ticketed for first offense DUI and reckless driving.
