LINCOLN–(KFOR July 10)–A grand jury will investigate the death of a 58-year-old Eagle man, who died from what appears to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound as U.S. Marshals closed in on him Tuesday at a northeast Lincoln retirement facility.
Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner says Gary Vondra was in his mother’s apartment in the Cotner Center Condominiums at Cotner Boulevard and Holdrege Street, when law enforcement arrived to arrest him on a federal warrant.
Officers heard a gunshot come from the apartment, at which point they got in to find Vondra deceased. He was alone in the apartment at the time of the gunshot.
