Alzheimer’s Association and AARP Brain Awareness Month

What: The Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter and AARP Nebraska
are excited to announce they are partnering to offer all Nebraskans a virtual education series
during Alzheimer’s and Brain Awareness Month.
The series will feature Alzheimer’s and dementia experts and cover prevention, research and
self care over four weeks in June. The series will be offered at no cost and the first 100
participants will receive a free participation package.
There are currently 35,000 Nebraskans over the age of 65 living with Alzheimer’s and 61,000
caregivers providing 51,000,000 hours of unpaid care.
June 9th – Loretta Veney, National speaker and author of Being my Mom’s Mom, presents
“Lego: Serious Play for Family Caregivers.”
June 16th – Dr. Clair Sexton, Director of Scientific Programs and Outreach at the Alzheimer’s
Association, presents “Looking Ahead: The Latest Research and Treatment for Alzheimer’s and
Dementia.”
June 23rd – Emily Wadams, MT-BC, Music Therapist and owner of Omaha Music Therapy,
presents “Music and the Brain.”
June 30th – Jenna Wuebker, MS, RD, LMNT, and Natalie Shearer, Volunteer Community
Educator with the Alzheimer’s Association Nebraska Chapter, presents “Healthy Living for the
Brain and Body and The MIND Diet.”
