Caregiver Education Meeting May 28th

May 28 @ 1:30 pm - 3:00 pm

What: Caregiver Education Meeting
When: Tuesday, May 28th at 1:30p
Where: Aldersgate UMC, 84th and South St., Lincoln, Ne

The presentation for May 28th is entitled Planning Ahead for Financial and Legal. The presentations will be given by Alan Kuzma from Kuzma Financial Services and Tim Clare from Rembolt Ludtke LLP. It is very important to have these services in place and updated. Alan will share about pulling back the Veil of Wallstreet; what you should know about fees and taxes. Tim’s presentations covers the fundamentals of estate planning, exploring its importance, various individualized planning options, life events that may necessitate revisiting a plan, and additional insights, such as the importance of Powers of Attorney documents. Participants will also learn about tax minimization strategies within estate planning and methods to streamline the estate administration process. Both are very skilled and will give valuable information.

There will also be time for further discussion and for you to ask questions after the presentations. The presentations and the folder of resources we share will provide invaluable information, not only for family caregivers but also for family members, pastors/church members, friends and neighbors as well as professional care providers. I also have some new sheets about resources to distribute.

Upcoming Presentations:

June 25 How Can A Pharmacist Help You Be A Caregiver? – Dr. Ally Diering-Anderson

July 23 What Caregivers Need to Know About Dementia Behaviors – Gayleen Bradley, Orchard Park

Go to the Lincoln Caregivers Education Group page on Facebook and like us. Thanks. It will keep you updated on events of interest to caregivers/older persons. Several members of the Lincoln Caregiver Education Group share helpful information for caregivers regularly.

You may also visit the Nebraska Caregiver Coalition page and the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network page on Facebook for even more information.

As I shared I am bringing copies of the Caregiver Organizer to the meeting. Because of a generous donation I am able to provide a free copy to active caregivers. The Organizer is a valuable tool for anyone living alone. There is a suggested donation of $12 which will print another copy. If you write a check to make a donation make it payable to the Lincoln Community Foundation with Caregiver Organizer in the memo line. The Foundation is our repository for funds. All donations go directly into the account. I am a volunteer and receive no compensation or reimbursement.
