What: Caregivers Education Meeting,
When: Tuesday, August 27th at 1:30
Where: Aldersgate UMC, 84th & South, Lincoln, Ne.
The Caregiver Education Group sponsors meetings for caregivers held the fourth Tuesday of each month at 1:30pm CT except for December. The meeting that month will be held on the second Tuesday at 1:30pm CT to avoid the holidays. The meetings are held at the Aldersgate UMC, 84th and South Streets here in Lincoln. There is ample parking, no steps, and a nice meeting room. The presentation begins at 1:30pmCT. There is always time allowed for discussion and sharing after the presentation. Everyone is welcome to attend. The meetings are free and you do NOT need to register.
The presentation for August 27th entitled Medical Education and Planning will be given by Amy Hensley, MSN RN, of Sips & Wishes. This is what she shared with me about the presentation – “We understand why people put off having difficult conversations. Thinking about our mortality can be uncomfortable. But NOT having the conversation can lead to devastating consequences: guilt, trauma, complicated grief. So what if you could learn about medical treatments and the importance of picking a medical power of attorney? If that sounds interesting, come learn a little more about Sips & Wishes. This information session presents the two nurses who developed an interactive, educational workshop. Learn why they are passionate about educating and empowering you.”
As always there will be time for further discussion after the presentation. The presentation and the folder of resources we share will provide invaluable information, not only for family caregivers but also for family members, pastors/church members, friends and neighbors as well as professional care providers.
Upcoming Presentations:
Sep 24 Aging & Disabiliity Resource Center Nebraska – ADRC 101 – Ben Stromberg, NE Dept of Health & Human Services

You may also visit the Nebraska Caregiver Coalition page and the Nebraska Lifespan Respite Network page on Facebook for even more information.
As I shared, I am bringing copies of the Caregiver Organizer to the meeting. Because of a generous donation I am able to provide a free copy to active caregivers. The Organizer is a valuable tool for anyone living alone. There is a suggested donation of $12 which will print another copy. If you write a check to make a donation make it payable to the Lincoln Community Foundation with Caregiver Organizer in the memo line. The Foundation is our repository for funds. All donations go directly into the account. I am a volunteer and receive no compensation or reimbursement.
I wish you safe and healthy days.
