The Lincoln Youth Symphony will present a program including a world premiere and a performance of one of the great classical treasures of all time. This free concert will be presented at Lincoln Southwest High School Auditorium at 3:00 on Sunday, November 6th. The concert will begin with the brass and percussion players of the orchestra performing March by Edvard Grieg. The orchestra will then play the first-ever performance of The Faces of Monte Cristo by Jonathan Crosmer, a former University of Nebraska student of composition and viola now living in Kentucky. This 6-movement piece traces various disguises of the principal character. After intermission, Senior Soloist Gabriel Marks will take center stage to perform the final two movements of the Viola Concerto in D by Stamitz. The orchestra will conclude the program with the famous Academic Festival Overture by Brahms.
