The Saturday program of the 4th annual Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival, features 8 performances, a storytelling slam, a video exhibition, a concert for small children and their families and much more with over 45 artists from all over the world in the Temple Building on the UNL Campus in Lincoln (1209 R Street).
At 10:00 am the annual baby concert in Studio Theatre will feature the festival’s artists in an informal environment with a story told through music by Marie Sønderksov. Also at 10:00 is the annual storytelling slam in Lab Theatre hosted by Rita Paskowitz. At 11:00 am there will be a roundtable discussion with many of the festival’s artists. These three events are free and open to the public. At 12pm, the Rwandan band Live Lyve will perform in Howell theatre with their fusion of styles taking in everything from Afrobeat to soul. Throughout the entire day, you’ll be able to see videos from “The Seat Beside You” featuring stories from immigrant families in the Lincoln Public Schools in the Temple Building Lobby; at 1pm videographer Brian Seifferlein will offer a presentation and Q&A session about the project.
At 2pm the German indie-Electronic band “toechter” will give the American debut of their album “Zephyr” in Studio Theatre and Kusi Taki, Lincoln’s own Peruvian traditional ensemble will perform at 4pm in Howell Theatre. Irish traditional legend Séamus Egan will perform together with Celtic Harpist and Crossroads favorite Maeve Gilchrist at 6pm in Studio Theater. Closing out the evening will be the Swiss-based, Armenian folk-jazz fusion band Authentic Light Orchestra, with support from the whole Crossroads Ensemble at 8pm in Howell Theater. A late night session featuring short one-song appearances from 6-8 festival artists will take place at 10pm in Studio Theatre. Get tickets and more info at NebraskaMusicFest.org.
