The Sunday program of the 4th annual Nebraska Crossroads Music Festival begins with a short meditation concert featuring improvisations from festival artists at 12pm at Hazel Abel Park in Lincoln.
At 2pm Guggenheim Fellow and GRAMMY-winning tabla master returns to Lincoln for a performance with Sitar player Rajib Karmaker and guests at First Presbyterian Church in Lincoln (840 S 17th St).
At 4 pm you can join festival artists and audience members for a short sing along of traditional songs that everyone will learn together.
At 5pm a performance entitled “Ancestral Modernism” will feature music steeped in tradition, but written today, including the festival’s commissioned work by Kinan Azmeh and Layale Chaker, co-commissioned by the New York Philharmonic and Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra, works by John Hadfield, Dinuk Wijeratne and Valeri Tolstov.
The festival will conclude with a free outdoor performance of the Cuban band Andy Williams and the Nebraska All-Stars at Union Plaza Amphitheater (N 21st St between Q & P streets).
