The Nebraska Jazz Orchestra is pleased to announce a livestreamed concert, “A Tribute To The Big Bands,” featuring winner of the 2021 Young Jazz Artist Competition, saxophonist Andrew Li.
This concert will be livestreamed from the Auld Pavilion in Antelope Park on Nebraska Jazz Orchestra’s Facebook page on May 18 at 7:00pm.
This performance is free and can only be viewed online due to Covid-19.

Andrew Li is a 17-year-old saxophonist from Westside High School in Omaha, Nebraska. Starting from a classical background, he was a national finalist in the Musical Teachers National Association Woodwind Competition. In tenth grade, he became interested and fully immersed himself in jazz through the music of Charlie Parker and Kenny Garrett, local ensembles, and combo gigs around Omaha. As lead alto in the Metropolitan Area Youth Jazz Orchestra and Nebraska All-State Jazz Band, he has played with renowned artists such as Andy Martin, Bijon Watson, Ron McCurdy, and Mary Fettig. With school groups, he has performed in the UNC/Greeley Jazz Festival, Great Plains Jazz Festival, and Morningside Jazz Festival. He is a National YoungArts Winner in Jazz and a DownBeat Student Music Awards Outstanding Performer, and in college hopes to continue his career as both an academic and artist.
