Lincoln’s own First-Plymouth Church (2000 D St) will host the internationally celebrated Saint John’s Bible—the first handwritten and illuminated text of the Bible since the Middle Ages – on Saturday, May 20 and Sunday, May 21, 2023.
For more than a decade, unbound, individual pages of the original manuscript have been shared in museum exhibits worldwide. The limited edition—known as the Heritage Edition—was created to give people a more intimate, hands-on experience, said Rev. Dr. John Ross, executive director of the Saint John’s Bible Heritage Program. Ross will speak at the May 20th event, “The Saint John’s Bible – An E.P.I.C. Experience” and will also be guest preaching at all the weekend services at First-Plymouth Church.
On May 20th, Dr. Ross will present, “The Saint John’s Bible – An E.P.I.C. Experience” from 10:30am-Noon at First-Plymouth. Hear behind-the-scenes stories of the first hand-written, illuminated Bible in over 500 years. This masterpiece of Biblical proportions is sure to ignite the spiritual imagination of all who come to learn more. Registration is requested in advance by emailing [email protected] to reserve your seat.
Dr. Ross will also be guest preaching at all the weekend services at First-Plymouth Church, Saturday, May 20, 5:30pm and Sunday, May 21, 9:00am, 10:30am, & 11:59am.
Volumes of the Bible will be on display both days for the public to look at and ask questions with the docents.
