Hot Club de Prairie is an Omaha Jazz Manouche group that specializes in music from the 1920s, 30s, and 40s. Jazz Manouche, also known as gypsy jazz, traces its origins back to the early 20th century in France, particularly around the city of Paris. It was created and popularized by the legendary guitarist Django Reinhardt, who developed a unique style of jazz guitar playing that blended elements of traditional Romani music, American jazz, European classical music, and improvisation. The instrumentation of the band—guitar, guitar, bass, and clarinet—reflects the instrumentation of the typical jazz manouche band. And the name of group is a nod to Django famous band, the “Hot Club de France.”
