“Truer Words,” featuring Kansas City’s Te Deum chamber choir, Matthew Shepard, conductor. The choir brings words of comfort, grace, understanding and joy from inspired poets, thinkers, and faith leaders, including King David, Gandhi, and Mother Teresa. The York University Singers, under the direction of Dr. Clark Roush, will open the concert.

For this concert, Abendmusik is proud to partner with Voices of Hope. Voices of Hope has provided services to empower all genders who have experienced relationship violence, sexual abuse, and other forms of abuse in the community for 48 years. Their vision is that victims and survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault, as well as their families and communities, receive responsive services that meet their needs, both individual and cultural, though crisis counseling and education aimed at eliminating recurrence, challenging oppressive social institutions, and reducing violence and oppression. Voices of Hope is thrilled to be a part of Abendmusik for this event to spread awareness and come together as a community to support survivors.

The free, in-person concert will be held at Lincoln’s historic First-Plymouth Church, 20th at D Street. A link to the free livestream can be found on Abendmusik’s website, abendmusik.org. The concert is sponsored by Ray & Carolyn Zeisset. Freewill offering to benefit Voices of Hope.
