Outlook will host its annual Vision Beyond Sight gala, “Experience the Journey,” on Friday, October 13 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Omaha Marriott Downtown at The Capitol District. People experiencing vision loss can achieve so much more than they, or you, ever imagined – and Vision Beyond Sight celebrates the remarkable success stories of blind individuals in our community.
To help educate attendees on challenges that blind people face, the event will feature “Desserts in the Dark.” As dessert is served, attendees may utilize light blocking eye masks that simulate the complexities associated with an everyday task for blind and visually impaired individuals.
The event also will feature a silent auction with all proceeds benefiting Outlook and its program offerings to the community. Among the items available for bid are an authentic Union Omaha jersey and volleyballs signed by three-time Olympic medalist and former Nebraska star Jordan Larson.
The proceeds from the gala support several organizational programs that provide visually impaired individuals with a wide range of recreational and cultural activities throughout the year. Experiences such as these provided by Outlook create an opportunity for participants to build long-lasting relationships with those who are facing similar challenges.
