The National Weather Service has issued an Excessive Heat Warning, which is in effect until 9pm this evening.

Heat index values are expected to be 109 to 117 degrees in urban areas, and 105 to 112 degrees in rural areas.

The hottest conditions are expected between 4 and 7pm. Heat index values should fall below 105 degrees after 9pm.

The National Weather Service advises to take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. When possible, reschedule outdoor activities to early morning or
evening and know the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heat stroke.

If you work outside or plan to be outside for a long time, be sure to wear light weight and loose fitting clothing when possible and drink plenty of water.
