LINCOLN–(KFOR/KOLN-TV Sept. 29)–A grass fire north of Roca on Sunday afternoon kept area firefighters busy.

Fire crews from Hickman, Southeast Rural, Southwest Rural, Crete, Hallam and Firth were called to the area near 46th and Bennet Road, where the fire spread quickly and burned dozens of acres of tree line and cornfield. According to KFOR’s media partner, 10/11 News, the brush fire was caused by a non-burn permit fire.

About 55 acres of trees and 10 acres of corn were burned. The challenges for firefighters were dry conditions and rough terrain.

No reports of any injuries.
