LINCOLN (KFOR July 25)–Fire did heavy damage to a large one story home near 70th and Highway 2 Thursday afternoon.

he first alarm for 6300 Doe Creek Circle came in just after 1 pm…and firemen were there within minutes. Fire Department Spokesman Andy Evans stated that when crews arrived, they found heavy fire coming from the front of the house and the garage.

Evans stated the fire was intense, and that about half of the roof caved in after fighting it for over an hour.  “It took about an hour to tame the fire, and get it all put out,” said Evans. “The incident was upgraded to a second alarm and ultimately a third alarm. We ended up with six engines, 3 trucks, 2 chiefs, 2 medic units, an air rig, and a supervisor on standby.”

Evans said the home suffered heavy damage, but no one was home at the time.

Two fire inspectors are looking for the cause.
