Former Husker Christy Named Nebraska Wesleyan’s Head Baseball Coach

LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 27)–Former Nebraska catcher and assistant coach Jeff Christy has been named the new head baseball coach at Nebraska Wesleyan, the school announced on Tuesday morning.

Christy, a Lincoln Southeast alum, previously served as an assistant coach at the college level, most notably with Nebraska from 2019 to 2023, where he worked with pitchers and catchers and helped with recruiting.  In 2024, Christy served as a volunteer assistant at Wichita State.  He also was a volunteer assistant at Texas A&M and was an assistant coach at the University of Central Oklahoma.

As a player, Christy played high school ball at Lincoln Southeast and was a catcher on the 2005 Nebraska baseball team that reached the College World Series, before playing professionally in the Minnesota Twins organization.

“It is a passion of mine to develop baseball players on and off the field and help these young men grow to be individuals they aspire to be,” Christy said.  “We will play hard, work to develop a multidimensional team in all facets of the game and be great teammates.”

Christy comes into a program that will transition it’s home baseball facility to one that will open at the new Sandhills Global Youth Complex in the spring of 2025, which will consist of a state-of-the-art stadium and field turf field.
