LINCOLN–(KFOR July 23)–A former Lincoln radio personality has pleaded to a lesser charge, after he was arrested April 21 for felony strangulation, after he assaulted a woman inside a southeast Lincoln home.

On Monday, 41-year-old Matthew Rydberg, also known as Matt McKay, agreed to a plea deal, pleading from felony strangulation to misdemeanor domestic assault – intentionally causing bodily injury.

The charge is a third-degree domestic assault and carries a penalty of up to 1-year in prison, a $1,000 fine or both.

Sentencing is scheduled for October 1.

McKay was the longtime morning show host on KFOR’s Top 40 sister station KFRX.  He and parent company Alpha Media USA parted ways in May.
