LINCOLN-(KFOR Oct. 2)- Medical marijuana — is it a practical medical alternative or a gateway to legalizing another addictive and potentially dangerous recreational drug? Two national advocates will explore both sides of the medical marijuana controversy at the “Good Talks for the Good Life” premier event, Oct. 17.

This will be a moderated conversation, not a debate, featuring Matthew Schweich, Deputy Director of Marijuana Policy Project which supports allowing access to marijuana, and Luke Niforatos, Chief of Staff for Smart Approaches to Marijuana which opposes the legalization of the drug.

Good Talks for the Good Life is scheduled for 7 p.m. in the University of Nebraska Union Auditorium, 1400 R St. The event is free but seating is limited. Visit goodtalksgoodlife.org for more information and to reserve a seat.

“Good Talks for the Good Life features moderated discussions on divisive topics where respected thinkers will be pushed to engage with the truths of opposing viewpoints in search of common ground,” said Alex McKiernan, who will moderate the marijuana discussion. McKiernan is founder and president of the Lydia Foundation for Social Engagement, which is sponsoring Good Talks.
