Google Invested $930-Million into Nebraska in 2024

LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 25)–Google is expanding its footprint in Nebraska with a $930-million investment across their three data center campuses and surrounding communities.

During an announcement on Monday at UNL’s Innovation campus, Google public sector CEO Karen Dahut said that Google’s data centers are critical to making sure the search engine giant’s investment in technology can be leverageable by supporting government customers and national security with data center campuses and surrounding community.

“We are grateful for the partnership from leaders across Nebraska as we have grown within the state. I look forward to exploring more opportunities to bring the power of Google Cloud’s technology to support the important missions of the public sector.”

Google’s infrastructure investment will support the growth of its data center campuses in Lincoln, Papillion and Omaha, helping meet growing demand for Google Cloud, AI innovations, and other digital products and services that people and organizations use every day, such as Search, Maps and Workspace.

“Google’s investment in Nebraska’s technology infrastructure, including AI, gives us a competitive global advantage,” Nebraska U.S. Republican Senator Pete Ricketts said. “These are the jobs of the future – and they’re coming here to Nebraska. It’s a key reason why our state continues to be the best place to live, work, and raise a family.”

“Google’s continued investment in Lincoln reflects our city’s growing reputation as a hub for innovation, sustainability, and opportunity,” Mayor Leirion Gaylor Baird. “By supporting cutting-edge research, AI education, and programs like Lincoln Public Schools’ Spark Summer Camp, Google is helping to prepare Lincoln’s students and workforce for a rapidly evolving future.”

Google’s total investment in Nebraska is now $4.4-million.  Read more by clicking this link: Google Nebraska Economic Impact.
