The heat wave has hit Nebraska and plans on staying through the week.

National Weather Service meteorologist, Cathy Zapotocny told KFOR that they are “looking for those hot temperatures to spread northward and that the hottest temperatures will be Lincoln, Beatrice, and Fairbury.”

Zapotocny stated that the heat wave will begin to be felt starting Wednesday July 17th. “We are looking for that to start on Wednesday and continue through Friday as well as look at if we have to add on Saturday,” Zapotocny explained. She said that Sunday’s temperatures appear to drop but remain above average.

Zapotocny said that the hottest temperatures will begin in the Beatrice and Fairbury regions on Wednesday and then move to the Lincoln area.

The excessive heat watch, has been upgraded to an excessive heat warning as of Tuesday.
