With the predicted blizzard moving in, the Nebraska Department of Transportation is closing westbound I-80 at Ogallala at 11:00 a.m. CDT.  Travel on secondary roads west of Ogallala is not advised either.  The National Weather Service is predicting the storm will dump up to 17 inches of snow in Western and North Central Nebraska.  Flood watches and warnings are out for Eastern Nebraska, advising of heavy rain as the moisture continues moving eastward into warmer temperatures.

All Travelers can check the most up to date travel conditions and closures through 511, Nebraska’s Traveler Information System.  The system is available at all times via phone, online at www.511.nebraska.gov, Nebraska 511’s smartphone app or by dialing 511.  Travelers can also utilize NDOT’s Plow Tracker at https://plows.nebraska.gov/index.html.  The truck-mounted app makes it possible to see road conditions in real time from the cabs of NDOT snowplows.
