Kabourek to Step Down From His Role in NU System
LINCOLN–(KFOR/Journal Star Sept. 17)–After serving the University of Nebraska system for 27 years, notably as the chief financial officer for six years and this past year as interim president, Chris Kabourek has announced he’s stepping down from his role on September 30.
The Journal Star reports that Kabourek sent a letter to new NU President Dr. Jeffrey Gold on Monday, laying out his intentions to leave. After he was named interim university president last year and before Gold took over the role in July, Kabourek set a two-year budget that eliminated a deficit, while also creating a Presidential Scholars program, and hiring new Husker athletic director Troy Dannen.
Anne Barnes, who has been UNMC’s vice chancellor for business and finance, will serve as the university system’s interim chief financial officer.
