Husker Volleyball Prepares for Scrimmage, Season Opener

The annual Red-White Nebraska volleyball scrimmage is Saturday at 6pm inside the Devaney Center. It will include a 50-year celebration for Nebraska volleyball, with at least 100 former players expected to make a return. Husker head coach John Cook says the mindset for this year’s team is to not look back at last season, where the Huskers finished as NCAA runner-up.

“Reinventing this team and reinventing this season is gonna be a new journey with new challenges. That’s what our focus is,” Cook told reporters on Thursday.

The Red-White scrimmage Saturday will consist of four games, according to Cook. No. 2 Nebraska plays No. 9 Kentucky on Tuesday night at Louisville to begin the season.

Saturday Marks Fan Day for Husker Football and Volleyball

Husker fans can enjoy a couple of fan day events on Saturday. At 9am, the Husker volleyball team will hold fan day at the Devaney Center, while at 11am the Husker football team will do their fan day at the Hawks Championship Center.

Documentary on Husker Volleyball Airs on ESPN This Weekend

A documentary about the Nebraska volleyball team’s 2023 season will air this weekend through ESPN’s E-60 series. Jen Carson Strauss is the director and producer for the documentary and talked to Hail Varsity Radio on KFOR Thursday, saying it all started with last season’s Volleyball Day in Nebraska played at Memorial Stadium.

“If there’s going to be 92,000-plus people anywhere to see anything, especially for a women’s sporting event, it’s a big deal,” Carson Strauss said.

The E-60 documentary on Nebraska volleyball is Sunday afternoon at 4 o’clock on ESPN.
