Husker Men’s Hoops Breakout for Scoring Run to Defeat Grand Valley State

A 30-6 run from late in the first half into the second half helped the Nebraska men’s basketball team to break away from a 28-all game to a 73-53 victory over Grand Valley State Sunday afternoon at Pinnacle Bank Arena. Gavin Griffiths led the Huskers with 14 points. The Huskers open the 2024-25 season next Monday, Nov. 4, against UT Rio Grande Valley.

 

Markowski, Prince Spark Husker Women’s Basketball Team to Exhibition Win over Doane

Senior Alexis Markowski scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, while freshman Britt Prince scored 12 points, as the 23rd-ranked Nebraska Women’s basketball team defeated Doane 89-52 on Sunday in an exhibition game at Pinnacle Bank Arena. The Huskers open the regular season on Monday, Nov. 4 at noon when they play host to Omaha.

Chiefs Stay Perfect With Win Against Raiders

Chiefs Football from Sunday afternoon, Kansas City extended their win streak to 13 games and improved to 7-0, with a 27-20 victory over the Raiders in Las Vegas. Patrick Mahomes passed for 262 yards and two touchdowns. Kansas City is back in action next Monday night against Tampa Bay at GEHA Field at Arrowhead.

North Star Boys, LSW Girls Finish Runner-Up, Pius X Boys Win Gold at NSAA State Cross Country Meet

At the State Cross Country meet in Kearney on Friday, the Lincoln North Star boys finished as the Class A team runner-up to state champion Fremont, with North Star’s Josiah Bitker finishing second to Fremont state individual champ Juan Gonzalez. Lincoln East finished third in the team standings. Lincoln Southwest is the Class A girls team runner-up to state champ Millard West. In Class B, Lincoln Pius X is the boys team champion. Norris is the Class B girls runner-up to state team champion Elkhorn North. Pius X girls finished third.
