HUSKER FOOTBALL: Rhule Shares Takeaways from Loss to No. 13 Indiana, Looks Ahead to No. 4 Ohio State

Nebraska head football coach Matt Rhule on Monday talked to the media, two days after the Huskers suffered a 56-7 setback at the hands of now 13th-ranked Indiana. Rhule gave credit to the Hoosiers for playing a clean football game, but it was disappointing for his team because it was not their best football in any area.

“We struggled at the corner position. They isolated some one-on-one throws and those are 50/50 balls. You should win 50% of the time and they won most of them,” Rhule said. “The game came down to the run game. We were not able to stop the run.”

Rhule was asked about the team’s confidence and if it has become an issue. He said no but the issue he’s been battling since he came to Nebraska is the “here we go again” narrative.

“Whether it’s just the constant narratives of tough losses, or we were having some success early, the vocal narrative is always very much like, ‘Here’s what they’re not good at, right?’ So our kids are reading what they’re not good at, and that’s life,” Rhule added. “I’m not complaining about that.”

As for this week’s game with the Buckeyes, Rhule said the eye-opening element of the offense is their run game.

“They can run the ball any which way. They have an elite offensive line and defensive line,” Rhule said. “They’ve got two great tailbacks. Their tailbacks are special, but they create all different kinds of angles.”

Nebraska and Ohio State kickoff this Saturday at 11am on Fox.
