Lincoln Woman Accused of Stealing Benefit Money from Children

LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 2)–A 41-year-old Lincoln woman is accused of stealing more than $130,000 in funds from her children’s benefits and using the money for gambling.

According to Lincoln Police, the children’s benefits came from their father, who had passed away. The three kids were were beneficiaries on the father’s life insurance and retirement benefits. Because the beneficiaries are minors, the insurance company requires the woman to be their court-appointed conservator. She was not authorized to make cash withdrawals without a court order.

Between December 23 of last year to this past April 30, the woman transferred the money into her account, all not authorized by the Lancaster County Probate Court.
