LPD Arrests Suspect in Monday Aggravated Assault Case

LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 3)–A 36-year-old man was arrested after an assault just before 10pm Monday at a home near 49th and Madison.
Lincoln Police Lt. Jason Goodwin tells KFOR News officers found a 49-year-old man and a 42-year-old man with head injuries. Both men told officers they were hit in the head several times with a hammer in an unprovoked manner. Police later tracked down 36-year-old DeMario Handy several blocks away and he was arrested. He was put in jail for second-degree assault and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
One of the men was taken to a hospital with non life-threatening injuries. The other man was checked out at the scene and didn’t need any further medical attention.
