LPD Officer Assaulted At Local Hotel

LINCOLN–(KFOR/News Release Nov. 28) On Wednesday November 27 at approximately 2:51 a.m. officers responded to America’s Best Value Inn hotel at 5600 Cornhusker Highway on the report of a male and female yelling. Officers contacted a 53-year-old female who said 29- year-old Thony Greene Jr was refusing to leave her hotel room. The hotel manager verified Greene Jr was not on the room reservation and wanted him to leave. Officers contacted Greene Jr who initially refused officers commands at which time an officer grabbed his right arm. A struggle ensued and a taser was unsuccessfully deployed. Greene Jr then grabbed a metal broom and raised it as if he was going to throw it at officers who again deployed a taser unsuccessfully. Greene Jr then flipped a table over and briefly hid behind the table before charging at officers who deployed a taser causing Greene Jr to momentarily fall to the ground, however he immediately began to get back up. Officers attempted to take Greene Jr into custody and during the struggle Greene Jr bit one officer on the finger, scratched another officer in the face and kicked the third officer in the lower leg. Greene Jr was arrested and lodged in jail for: -Three counts of 3rd Degree Assault on an Officer -Resisting arrest with a Deadly Weapon -Resisting Arrest, 2nd or Subsequent Offense -Criminal Trespassing
