LPD Officer Hurt While Trying To Detain Suspect

LINCOLN–(KFOR August 28)–A Lincoln Police officer suffered facial injuries, after she was hit by a man who ran away from a neighborhood during a narcotics call Tuesday night.

Captain Jake Dilsaver told KFOR News the officer was sent out to 19th and “G” and when the man she was wanting to talk to didn’t comply, he took off.  He says the officer later found the man at 21st and “F” and when she tried to detain him, the man deliberately elbowed her in the face.

Other responding officers took the suspect into custody for first-degree assault of an officer. The suspect’s name has not been released.

Captain Dilsaver says the officer was taken to the hospital, where she suffered significant facial injuries, including nasal fractures.  That officer has since been released from the hospital.
