The ‘Click It or Ticket’ mobilization is a nationally organized campaign to increase awareness and usage of seatbelts and child restraint systems.

On Wednesday May 22, 2019 the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office participated in the mobilization efforts by conducting a high visibility checkpoint and participating in saturation patrol.  From 3:00 PM until 8:00 PM the Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office conducted a high visibility safety checkpoint on Highway 6 just west of 98th Street. 12 deputies checked vehicles for safety equipment violations and apparent traffic law violations.  414 vehicles were checked which resulted in 2 people getting arrested on outstanding warrants, 6 criminal citations, 20 official traffic citations, and 87 warning/defect cards being issued.

The Lancaster County Sheriff’s Office continued the enforcement efforts on May 25, 2018 through saturation patrol by having additional deputies run traffic on an individual basis from 4:00 PM until 10:00 PM. Beginning Friday, May 24, 2019, thru Sunday, June 02, 2019, additional deputies were on duty Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights. These additional deputies were utilized for saturation patrol to enforce traffic law violations throughout Lancaster County.  During the high visibility checkpoint and the saturation patrol a combined total of 623 vehicles were contacted which resulted in 3 people getting arrested on outstanding warrants, 20 criminal arrests, 162 official traffic citations and 236 warning/defect cards being issued.  Official citations were issued for the following offenses; 7 driving during suspension, 1 child restraint violation, 11 seatbelt violations, 87 speeding violations, 8 stop sign violations, 21 registration and insurance violations, 14 various traffic law violations and 13 people driving without a valid operator’s license.
Criminal citations issued included 1 possession of a controlled substance, 8 possession of marijuana less than 1oz, 9 possession of drug paraphernalia, 1 carrying a concealed weapon and 1 littering.
