Man Accused Of Arson Outside North Lincoln Church
LINCOLN–(KFOR June 7)–A 32-year-old man has been arrested for arson after starting two fires outside of a north Lincoln church on Thursday.
Serhiy Andriyashyn is in jail for third-degree arson.
Andriyashyn reportedly started the fires outside the House of Prayer Church near 14th and Morton. One of the fires was set in a dumpster and another in a refrigeration unit on a trailer outside the church. Officer Angela Sands says the pastor of the church believes Andriyashyn was upset with how marriage counseling was going.
Surveillance footage shows Andriyashyn was the person who started the fires, police said, and he was arrested walking down the middle of 14th Street a short time after the incident took place. A can of lighter fluid was also lying on the grass nearby.
Total damage is estimated at $10,000.
