According to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation (DOT), 23 people were killed on Nebraska roads during the month of May.

Of the 23 killed, two were on the Interstate, three on local roads and 18 on highways. Seven were not wearing seat belts, two were motorcyclists, and six of the 19 crashes were head-on collisions.

Data from the DOT indicates that the number of fatalities during the month of May has gone down 14.8% from 2018 and that 46 of the 73 motorists that have been killed in crashes so far in 2019 were not wearing seat belts.
