Nebraska Public Media to Televise Debate with Congressional Candidates

LINCOLN–(KFOR Aug. 26)–Nebraska Public Media announced Monday they will host a televised debate for both candidates in Nebraska’s First District Congressional race.

The hour-long debate will happen Sept. 15 at the Nebraska Public Media studios in Lincoln. The debate will feature incumbent and Republican candidate Mike Flood and Democratic challenger and term-limited Bellevue State Senator Carol Blood.

Flood is seeking his second full term representing Nebraska’s 12-county 1st District. He won his House seat in a 2022 special election, replacing former Rep. Jeff Fortenberry, who had resigned. Flood won a full term later that year.

Blood and is set to be term-limited out of the Legislature this year. She was unopposed in the primary. She previously ran for governor in 2022, when she lost to Gov. Jim Pillen in the general election.
