Nebraska’s Task Force One, LES Crews Activated to Southeast U.S. Ahead of Hurricane Helene
LINCOLN–(KFOR Sept. 26)–About four dozen members of Nebraska’s Urban Search and Rescue Team, Task Force One, have been activated to help with the response to Hurricane Helene, as it continues to churn toward the western Gulf Coast region of Florida.
LFR Battalion Chiefs Brad Thavenet, Mark Majors and Lloyd Mueller were deployed with the Blue Incident Support Team on Wednesday. It’s not clear where the team will head to exactly and operations will vary depending on what situations they are asked to help with. Water rescues could be the primary operation.
Meanwhile, Lincoln Electric System crews on Wednesday sent 12 members of their team to Georgia to help with any power restoration efforts. Helene is expected to intensify into a Category 4 storm by late Thursday afternoon.
