Officer, Suspect Both Released From Hospital Following Tuesday’s Shooting

LINCOLN–(KFOR Oct. 18)–Acting Lincoln Police Chief Michon Morrow on Wednesday gave an update on the Tuesday morning officer-involved shooting at the Arrow Bus Depot near 52nd and Superior.
She told reporters the officer that suffered a stab wound to the neck was released from the hospital Tuesday afternoon and is in good spirits. The officer should return to work soon. A second officer who fired his service gun and wounded the suspect is on paid administrative leave.
Meanwhile, the suspect, now identified as 27-year-old Simon Kafka of Chicago, was released from the hospital on Wednesday afternoon. He has been put in jail for first-degree assault on an officer and use of a weapon to commit a felony.
