Ohio Child Kidnapped Found Safe in Central Nebraska Following Pursuit

LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 11)–A 3-year-old child that was abducted from Columbus, Ohio was rescued and the Nebraska State Patrol arrested a man following a pursuit in central Nebraska on Saturday.

In a release to KFOR News, the State Patrol said tried to make a traffic stop on Interstate 80 near Overton, but the suspect, 27-year-old Diego Gonzalez, didn’t stop and took off. Speeds reached 100 mph during the pursuit, as Gonzalez passed vehicles on the shoulder of the Interstate, before troopers stopped the pursuit. Authorities then got a call about Gonzalez’ vehicle heading into Custer County and heading west on Highway 40 near Callaway, before stop sticks were used and Gonzalez’ vehicle drove into a field and got stuck.

Gonzalez was arrested for several offenses. The child is safe and in protective custody and will be returned to his mother.
