Pleasant Dale Area Standoff Ends Peacefully Early Monday

PLEASANT DALE–(KFOR Sept. 23)–A 34-year-old Pleasant Dale man is in jail on several charges, ranging from domestic assault and false imprisonment to having a firearm while committing a felony and obstructing a peace officer, following a possible hostage situation early Monday morning.

The Seward County Sheriff’s Office said in a release to KFOR News said they received a 911 call about 3:30am Monday to a home near 5th and Cedar Street in Pleasant Dale, where deputies were soon able to get a woman out of the home unharmed.  The man inside the house, Trenton Engel, apparently barricaded himself inside with a weapon.

SCSO said after unsuccessful attempts were made to get Engel out of the home, the Nebraska State Patrol’s SWAT team was called in and soon after, Engel was taken into custody without incident.

No reports of any injuries.
