Pursuit Monday In Seward County Ends in Officer-Involved Shooting
PLEASANT DALE–(KFOR Oct. 24)–A pursuit Monday afternoon that went from Seward County into Lancaster County ends with an officer-involved shooting.
According to the Seward County Sheriff’s Office in a release sent to KFOR News on Tuesday, deputies were trying to make a traffic stop along westbound Interstate 80 when it turned around and headed eastbound in the westbound lanes about a mile east of the Milford exit. The vehicle then crossed over into the eastbound lanes and continued eastward where it became a high-speed pursuit.
The chase ended just inside the Lancaster County line, two occupants of the vehicle were ordered to come out. Investigators say the passenger got out but the driver stayed inside. As deputies were talking to the driver, they saw a weapon in his hand and an officer-involved shooting took place. The suspect was given first aid by deputies and Nebraska State Troopers at the scene but was later pronounced dead by paramedics.
The Nebraska State Patrol’s Special Investigations Team has been called in to handle the investigation. A Grand Jury will be held in Lancaster County at a later date.
The investigation is still ongoing.
