LINCOLN–(KFOR News June 19)–Lincoln Fire & Rescue is adding a second battalion chief unit.

Fire Chief Micheal Despain promoted three new Battalion Chiefs to serve.  Now there will be two Battalion Chiefs on duty every day.  In a news release, LFR says it will benefit the community by dividing the city into two districts for response which promotes a safer environment for firefighters responding on calls and helps increase accountability and training opportunities for our fire force.

A special helmet presentation ceremony will be held Thursday (June 20) at 4;30pm inside the new Fire Station 15 at 6601 Pine Lake Road.  Mayor Leirion Gaylor-Baird will be there to make some remarks.
