September Traffic Fatality Toll

(KFOR NEWS  October 18, 2022)   36 people were killed on Nebraska roads during September of 2022, according to data collected by the Nebraska Department of Transportation.   There were 22 fatalities in September of 2021.  Only 50 of the 162 vehicle occupants killed during 2022 were using seatbelts.

  •  36 fatalities occurred in 30 fatal crashes
  •  9 of the 27 vehicle occupants killed were not using seatbelts, 11 were using a seatbelt, and 7 had seatbelt usage marked as unknown
  •  23  fatalities were in rural locations
  •  1 fatality was on the interstate, 24 on other highways, and 11 on local roads
  •  6 fatalities were motorcyclists
  •  3 fatalities were pedestrians
  • 1 fatality involved a train
