Suspect in Stabbing of Lincoln Police Officer at Bus Depot Pleads Guilty

LINCOLN–(KFOR Nov. 13)–A guilty plea toward a charge of second-degree assault on an officer from a man accused of stabbing a Lincoln Police Officer last year.

It happened back in October 2023 at the Bus Depot near 52nd and Superior, when Simon Kafka, now 28, of Chicago refused to get off a bus because he did not have a ticket. Kafka had allegedly stabbed one officer in the neck, which caused a puncture wound, and later continued fighting with officers.

During the struggle, Kafka lost the knife and the officer threw a punch to distract Kafka, and the second officer fired a single shot that struck Kafka, causing him to go limp for a moment before he as taken into custody. Kafka on Tuesday pled guilty to the second-degree assault charge.
