Teens Picked Up For Theft, Vandalism In NE Lincoln Neighborhood
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 15)–A group of teens were taken into custody early Sunday morning after stealing over $20,000 in medical equipment and then setting fire to a car.
Lincoln Police say a 54 year oldĀ woman, who lives at 63rd and Morrill, awoke to a loud explosion around 4 AM, and when she looked outside, she saw her car in flames. She was able to extinguish the blaze, which was started by fireworks placed on the car.
A short time later, at 65th and Morrill, witnesses saw teens rifling through unlocked cars. Officers approached the teens, and found over $20,000 in medical equipment in their possession, as well as fireworks similar to the ones found with the burning car. The medical equipment in question was life-saving equipment for a man who recently had heart surgery.
All three teens, aged 17, 15, and 15, were all charged with felony theft and vandalism. One of the 15 year olds was also charged with possession of alcohol.
