Traffic Stop Leads To Arrests For Drugs, Weapon
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 18)–Two men are in jail, after a traffic stop near 70th and Fremont on Wednesday morning, where drug paraphernalia and a gun were found.
Lincoln Police say an officer found a car that fit the description of one reported by someone, who saw a similar vehicle looking through vehicles in the area. After the stop was made, the officer saw a glass pipe with what turned out to be meth inside it when it was pretested.
The driver, 25-year-old Dylan Phelps of Crete, was handcuffed, but his passenger, 31-year-old Noel Mendoza of Wilber, locked the doors. More officers showed up and eventually Mendoza got out. Police found a 9mm handgun in Mendoza’s waistband and the glass pipe he had hidden in the car.
Phelps was arrested for possession of a controlled substance. Mendoza was arrested for possession of a controlled substance, tamper with physical evidence, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of marijuana, and possession of paraphernalia.
