Union Bank Is Top Seed In Area 5 Legion Baseball Tournament
LINCOLN–(KFOR July 19)–Union Bank of Lincoln Pius X is the top seed in the Area 5 Legion Baseball Tournament, which starts Friday afternoon at Sherman Field.
Pius X, though, will get a first round bye and play Saturday at 4pm against the winner of Friday’s 1pm game between Pinnacle Bank of Lincoln Southeast and Carpet Land of Lincoln East.
In the other half of the bracket, JC Brager of Lincoln Southeast and Judds Brothers of Lincoln Northeast square off in the 4pm game, with the winner advancing to Saturday’s 7pm winners bracket game against the winner of the Friday 7pm game between Anderson Ford of Lincoln North Star and Sampson Construction of Lincoln High.
The tournament is double elimination, with the Area 5 championship scheduled for 4pm Tuesday. If necessary, a game would follow to determine a champion. The final two teams to make the title game automatically qualify for the Class A State Legion Baseball Tournament.
