LINCOLN–(KFOR August 21)– A Lincoln woman was arrested on a number of charges after stealing two cars from local dealerships when she asked to test drive them.

Lincoln Police said on Wednesday that 26-year-old Hannah Rice started a string of crimes July 5, when she allegedly shoplifted over $500 in men’s and women’s clothing from Von Maur at Southpointe Pavillions.

Then on August 15, the manager of El Charro Auto Sales at NW 21st and West “O” Street reported that a woman fitting Rice’s description walked in, asking to test drive a car.  While she had a suspended driver’s license, police say Rice used her state I.D. and was given the keys.

Rice never returned the car, which was found unoccupied on August 16 near 10th and “E” Streets.  The same thing happened at Alan’s Auto Sales near 21st and “O” on Monday (August 19).  Officers were tipped off about the missing car and found it in the 3400 block of Portia Street.

Police showed up and Rice got out of the car, where she was arrested on several charges, including shoplifting, unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, driving while on suspension and two unrelated warrants.
